Cloud Is Not Infallible: Data Memory Systems Urges Businesses to Adopt Multiple Back-Up Methods

SALEM, NH – October 29, 2015 — /BackupReview.info/ — Data Memory Systems is encouraging businesses to adopt multiple methods of backing up their data, after a report found that cloud security is still a barrier to cloud adoption.

Almost 41% of businesses that took part in the LinkedIn Cloud Security Spotlight report said that the issues of data loss and leakage risks were an impediment to cloud adoption, while 90% of respondents also indicated they were moderately or very concerned about public cloud security. 63% were concerned about the possibility of unauthorized access, while 61% also worried about account hijacking.

In 2013, stats showed that 47% of enterprises had lost data in the cloud, and a new report has also found that 67.2% of data loss in businesses is down to hacking – which demonstrates the concerns of these businesses have roots in real evidence, rather than conjecture.

Data Memory Systems is therefore urging businesses to approach their back-ups with numerous different methods. Data Memory Systems now advocate the 3-2-1 rule, which states you should back-up to three different locations. Two should be storage media like hard drives, and the other should be a cloud option, an online backup. Even if one method fails, the other two can step in. Cloud back-ups and hard drive back-ups should work in tandem with one another to offer a comprehensive solution that will combat data loss and leakage effectively.

A spokesman for Data Memory Systems says, “Cloud storage is growing increasingly popular, but this report shows that there are still real concerns about the security of the cloud – especially the public cloud. The solution is simple – adopt multiple methods of backing up your most sensitive and important data, to ensure that you’re protected should the worst happen to your cloud accounts.”

The spokesman adds, “At Data Memory Systems we have a multitude of options for businesses looking to buy back-up solutions in bulk – we carry a full line of external and internal hard drives and solid-state drives from some of the world’s biggest manufacturers. We also manufacture our own in-house devices under the DMS Celerity name – a name which has now become synonymous with reliability, cost-effectiveness and quality.”
